FieldWorks helps field linguists collect and analyze language data. The data for the Nuosu Yi - Chinese - English Glossary were collected and prepared using FieldWorks Language Explorer.

WeSay helps non-linguists build a dictionary in their own language. The data format is compatible with FieldWorks.

Pathway prepares language data for publication, both in print and electronic formats.

Windows Vista/Windows 7 provides an input method and font. In Control Panels|Regional and Language Options, click the Keyboards and Languages tab, then Change keyboards. Click Add. Scroll down and expand Yi (PRC)|Keyboard. Check the box for Yi Input Method. Click OK. You may have to restart your system before you see the new input method in the Language bar.

Input Method for Mac OS X 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard). Type the romanized form of a Nuosu syllable, then press <spacebar> and the Yi character will replace the roman letters you typed. More detail is in the ReadMe.txt file.

Fonts

Nuosu SIL Nuosu Yi characters and radicals.

Microsoft GB18030 Support Package includes a font that displays Chinese characters, Nuosu Yi characters, and latin characters as well.

In Android systems, you'll need to replace a system font to get "always on" display of Yi characters.

Microsoft Yi Baiti is included in Windows Vista/7. You can install others too, but Windows Vista/7 users will be able to display Yi characters without any special set up.

Andika A sans serif font that works well for Hanyu Pinyin.

Gentium This is the serif font used in the print edition of the Nuosu Yi - Chinese - English Glossary.
